The black bitten Apple was used by the brand for several years but became official only after the release of iMac. The arched logo is a separate element, sunken in the grey plastic. Is it possible the HD has failed? Would that also explain the missing logo?Īny ideas from anyone with a similar problem? I've Google'd different variations of the problem, but can't find anything except problems with the Apple logo present. The Apple logo was renewed in 1998, and this is when the rainbow version was replaced by its monochrome twin. It should be used in place of this PNG file when not inferior. File:Apple logo grey.svg is a vector version of this file. The new logo was a translucent grey that matched the colour of the first iMac, which they launched in 1998. Other resolutions: 240 × 240 pixels 480 × 480 pixels 669 × 669 pixels. I've read that the missing logo might mean a problem with firmware, but I can't see any way to fix that without OS X installed. The boot would progress through the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinner, but just when it seems it should have switched to the login screen the Apple logo and spinner would disappear and hang on a blank grey screen. I'm not sure if this might be a hardware or OS problem or this is in the right category, but I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I'm having with a friend's Macbook. Press and hold down Side button until you see recovery mode screen.
